“The Spanish Club rooms breathe Old Spain, and from the far wall a poster proclaims –Morirá el fascism! Fascism Will Die! Beneath the words a crude, hand-knitted figure extends right arm up, the other down. Beside it a padlocked contribution box makes the plea, ‘Salvemos al niño español.’ Bright Loyalist posters cover the east wall: ‘Ayuda al Pueblo Español! Ayuda a España! Cruz Roja Español [sic]’.
