Valentín Aguirre and his wife Benita Orbe, ran a hotel, restaurant, travel agency and employment agency near New York´s West Side docks. The Aguirres helped thousands of Spaniards (particularly Basques) get settled in the United States. Frances Aguirre writes: “82 Bank Street, NYC. My dad’s Uncle’s (Valentin Aguirre) Hotel, the Santa Lucia. I don’t know what year this was taken or who the people in the photo are. It is hard to see them though the building came out nice!”
